Criteria

 

 

 

 

The criteria defined for a promotion restrict when the promotion will be applied to a basket.  For line level promotions one or more Product Criteria is required.

 

In most cases criteria are created as either an Include or Exclude.   When the promotion is being validated to see whether it can be applied to a basket, an Include criteria indicates that the basket attribute, product, product attribute or promotion must be matched in the basket, where an Exclude criteria indicates that it should not be matched.  The criteria defined for a promotion can be a mixture of Include and Exclude.

 

Criteria can be defined for the following:

 

oBasket

 

Basket Criteria restricts the availability of the promotion based on the attributes provided with the basket.  For example a criteria can be defined which restricts the promotion to only be applied to baskets which have a Channel attribute with a value of Web.

 

There is no restriction on the number of Basket Criteria that can be defined for a promotion.

 

Campaign/Coupon criteria can be added to restrict the promotion to only be available to baskets which are provided with a code from the specified coupon(s).  All Campaign/Coupon criteria are Include only.

 

Loyalty Scheme criteria - dependant upon the  Promo Loyalty Module  (see modules for more information) can be added to restrict the promotion to only be available to baskets where the customer is identified as belonging to the selected Scheme(s).

 

 

oTimeband

 

Timeband criteria allows the promotion to be restricted to baskets that are submitted with a sale date on a specific day of the week, or time period within specific days of the week.

 

All timeband criteria are Include only.

 

Multiple timebands can be defined, and if the basket sale date falls within the days and time range of any timeband, the promotion is available to be applied.

 

 

oLinked Promotions

 

Dependant upon the  Advanced Promotion Rules  module (see modules for more information).

 

Linked promotion criteria can be created to ensure that the promotion can only be applied where selected promotion(s) have or have not already been applied to a basket.  

 

The promotions presented will be dependant upon the level of the current promotion - where only promotions in levels that will have previously been applied by the Promo engine will be presented (see promotion levels).

 

 

oProduct (including Product Groups)

 

Product Criteria entries are used to identify products to be included or excluded when matching against a basket. 

 

Criteria entries can be based on selected Products or Product Attributes, and can be defined as Include or Exclude criteria.   A count of the included products is shown at the bottom of the Product Criteria list.

 

When selecting products for the criteria entries, the Product Browser will show products grouped by product code - thereby hiding variants.  When adding a product which has one or more variants the default behaviour is to add a criteria for all variants of the product.   To add a specific product variant, open the Product Browser and on the Display Options menu, select Show Variants and then select the required product variant(s).

 

Once the criteria entries have been selected, the following fields are available:

When matching criteria against a basket, the Required Quantity of products must be matched within the basket.

 

Spend on matched products

 

When matching criteria against a basket, the Required Spend specified must be spent for the products matched in the basket.

 

Match Using

Only available where the product criteria includes both Products and Product Attributes.

Selected products or attributes

 

Products can be matched using either the selected products, or the product attributes.

 

Selected products and attributes

 

Products are matched using the selected products and product attributes.

 

Multiple Product Matching

Only available where Validate For has a value of Quantity of matched products and the Required Quantity is greater than one, or where the Validate  For has a value of Spend on matched products.

No restriction

 

The matched products can be the same or different.

 

Matched products must be the same

 

The matched products must all be the same.

 

Matched products must be different

 

The matched products must all be different.

 

Required Quantity

Available where the Validate For has a value of Quantity of matched products, a value greater than zero must be provided.

 

The quantity of products that must be matched against the Product Criteria for the promotion to be applied.

 

Required Spend

Available where the Validate For has a value of Spend on matched products.

 

The required spend on products that must be matched against the Product Criteria for the promotion to be applied.

 

 

 

 

For line level promotions (other than the Deal Price promotion) the product criteria is used to define the matched products that will be discounted.

 

For the Deal Price promotion and for non-value type promotions, multiple Product Criteria Groups can be defined.  Each Product Criteria Group (labelled as A, B or C) has its own set of criteria items and fields for configuring the listed criteria.  When the Promo engine establishes whether a promotion can be applied to a basket, all Product Criteria Groups must be matched.
